 Paul qualified as a Plumber in 1969. He completed his training and advanced his studies in Business and Financial. Management.

In 1981 Paul was appointed a part time University  Lecturer in Engineering Services, a position he enjoyed for 14 years when he retired to pursue his desire to travel and teach the art of estimating accurately through his Estimating Seminars 

 In 1980, Paul founded his own company as a Design Engineer for residential, commercial, high-rise and office buildings as well as tourist resort developments in North Queensland. After celebrating his 20th year in business Paul moved on to concentrate on presenting his Estimating Seminars full time in the USA, Australia and NZ. 

 In 1994 Paul established a software company for the purpose of designing and developing software for the Building Industry. However, its success has led to many other solutions as illustrated by the CavSoft Technology Home Page.  The software products include Paul's won the Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence in 2000 and 2001, and represented Australia in the World IT Championships. 

Paul Funnell, has expended the Estimating courses to include electrical, building and other sub trades, His methods and systems are used in all TAFE colleges throughout Australia. 

Paul is the Author of the Reference/Textbooks 'ESTIMATING FOR PLUMBERS' and 'PIPE SIZING FOR BUILDING SERVICES'   He also wrote and published 'In Spite of My Eyes'  This autobiography is inspirational to those who want to succeed.
